Terms & Conditions & Privacy Statement

Terms & Conditions of Membership

We Aim To:

• Provide members with the opportunity to experience the excitement of racehorse ownership without the immense cost.

• Provide a fun and welcoming environment for all our Members on our App/social media and at racedays and other events.

  • Maintain a Club roster of quality horses which are capable of competing throughout the season.
  • Grow our membership so that we can lease a larger percentage of horses and acquire horses capable of competing at the highest level.
  • Membership Terms

Michael O' Callaghan Racing Club ("the Club") confers on the Member (for the duration of their membership with the Club) certain benefits associated with the Club's lease of the horses currently in training.

    Benefits of membership include:

  • Minimum of 5 horses in the club at any one time
  • All members will receive an exclusive Michael O'Callaghan Racing badge which will allow them to be recognized as club members when at the races
  • Receive exclusive, regular updates via MOC Racing Club App, email or telephone
  • Receive privileged pre and post race owner report via email or App
  • When the club has a runner, you have the opportunity to be entered in a draw for tickets to the races, which may include parade ring passes and owners badges.
  • You will be invited to regular yard visits, which will be limited in places to allow for more intimate access to horses and the yard.
  • You will receive a professionally produced monthly newsletter, which includes news and features, on both horses and club members
  • Receive weekly tips from our exclusive club tipster
  • Members can purchase exclusive club merchandise, including jackets and hats
  • You will receive a copy of the annually published Michael O'Callaghan Review magazine
  • You will have the opportunity to socialise with other club members at regular race meetings and horse racing events in Ireland and UK
  • 1.Membership is effective for a full period of 12 months from whatever date the Member joins. There is a Membership fee of €199 if a one-off payment is made in advance. A Quarterly payment option of €50 is also available. Membership is for twelve months regardless of payment method.

2.Upon completion of the first 12 months membership period, any Member who decides to renew, will be entitled to a loyalty discount from the full cost of membership.

3.Prize money won by the horses during the period of membership is distributed amongst the Members at the end of the calendar year. There can never be any guarantee of any future level of prize money, given that this is dependent on how well the horses perform on the racecourse and the number of Members on the dates of each race in which prize money is won.

The sum distributed to Members per specific race is determined by the relative net total paid to the Club by HRI (excluding VAT). The only additional deductions from the total Euro race prize fund are all entry/supplement fees and racehorse transport and where the race is outside of Ireland the deductions also extend to trainer/jockey/groom expenses. Any Plus 10, or similar, payments made to the Club, above prize money won, will be retained by the Club. In all circumstances, the 12 months membership fee is not subject to any additional requests for payment in relation to the keeping and training of the racehorses, no matter what costs the Club may incur.

4.Membership is primarily an entertainment. It is not an investment opportunity.

5.If the Member chooses not to renew at the end of the 12 months period, the membership shall expire. There is no commitment to remain a Member after the 12 months period has expired.

6.The membership fee shall include the provision of a regular newsletter and upkeep of our exclusive App.

7.In view of the unpredictable nature of the industry, no specific guarantees can be made in any respect. For example; whilst the intention is to maintain an average of 5 horses in the string and to provide 12 newsletters in a 12 months period, there are no specific guarantees.

    8. The buyer has the right to cancel a new contract they enter into with Michael O' Callaghan Racing Club within 14 days of the date it is concluded (agreed). A buyer can cancel their new Membership by communicating this in writing by emailing info@michaelocallaghan.ie or writing to

    Majella McParland

    Crotanstown Stud

    Lumville, The Curragh,

Co. Kildare, Ireland. The Club will refund their payment in full.

    9. All decisions relating to the horses, trainers, administration, and general management, shall be vested in the managers. Where a Member regularly fails to abide by the relevant dress code or acts in a manner which could cause harassment, embarrassment, offence or distress to another person, or warned due to the abuse of alcohol, the offending Member may be instantly barred from attending any future events and may not be able to renew his/her Club Membership. If this is the case, computer software will automatically not permit further activity. The decision of the Managers in such circumstances shall be final and binding.

    10. Membership is for personal use only and cannot be utilised for any commercial purpose.

    11. Copyright of all published material is the property of the Club. Material submitted by Members (photographs etc) must be their own work and the full copyright shall pass to the Club.

12.Members must be aged 18 or over.

    13. It is understood by the Member;

Full legal and equitable title to the Club horses and all such other horses acquired by the Club from time to time remains at all times with the Club

at no time does the Member have a legal or equitable interest in any one or more of the horses referred to above (or any share thereof); and

all rights conferred to the Member by the Club are personal to the Member alone and may not under any circumstances whatsoever be gifted, bequeathed, sold, assigned, leased, form part of a loan, offered or granted as security to any third parties.

14.Any person who is banned from entering a racecourse and/or 'warned off' by the BHA/HRI, cannot be a member of the Club.
